About The Event

Who can run the most loops at Quillinan Reservoir in six hours? I bet YOU can! Come party with me as I man an aid station that you get to pass through every ~3.8 miles. I'll pour you drinks, feed you, encourage / insult you (whatever you're into, I don't judge). It will be as fun (or even more fun) than the West Rock Fat Ass.

Come run one of my favorite loops in southern CT. Then run it again. And again. And again! Winner can probably do eight loops (~30.4 miles). Fast guys like Jeff Grant can do the loop in like 30 minutes, average guys like me maybe 35 mins. Even if it takes you an hour for each loop, that's 6 loops and like 23 miles (~22.8)

Here's the loop on Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/2049169459

It will be done "washing machine" style, meaning after your first counter-clockwise loop (or anti-clockwise if you're into British vernacular) you turn around and go clockwise. Then you reverse, then reverse again, etc. Eventually everyone will be running this way and that way, coming and going, maximizing both high-five opportunities AND smiles. This way, you can see both the front of the race unfold as well as the back!

Parking at the trailhead on Route 313 is limited to about 10 cars, so we'll have to figure out a way to carpool and/or shuttle runners from a nearby parking-friendly area. I understand that logistically this is super inconvenient but we have like 12 weeks to figure this out (I'm open to any and every idea here). Folks could possibly park at Ansonia Nature Center or in the nearby neighborhood. One option for the first four lucky folks is to park at my house and carpool in with me. Though I'll probably make you listen to jam bands on the way over.

I also understand the weather can be quite horrendous come late March. It could snow or it could be 72 and sunny and everyone gets dehydrated. I literally have no clue anymore with this stuff.

The trails rate from totally runnable singletrack and double-wide jeep road to ankle breaking Connecticut soft-ball size rocks and more roots than you can imagine with several seasonal creek crossings. Ankle-deep mud is a possibility.

You will love this non-race event.
